VLT Soft Starter MCD 500
As you will see from our site, we supply a range of fabulous VLT drives to manage all manner of uses and utilities. However, you may find yourself in a position where you need a complete motor starting solution. In that case, the MCD 500 kit, might be the best option, perfect for saws, mills, centrifuges, mixers, fans, compressors, conveyors and pumps… in fact, for anything with a motor that needs starting!
Transformers measure the motor current, and then provide feedback for controlled motor ramp profiles, which in simple terms means that the VLT® Soft Starter MCD 500 is the total solution.
Soft Starter Functionality
Firstly, choose from three menu systems – Quick Menu, Application Setup and Main Menu – to deliver the optimum programming approach. In order to make programming easy, the MCD 500 has a logic keypad and four line graphical display to allow for an optimum programming approach and setup for viewing operational status. Beyond that, operational status can also be displayed in the advanced setup.
The MCD 500 incorporates the VLT® LCP 501 Control Panel. This uses the much-loved Danfoss “FC” menu structure and button interface with full graphics and adjustable views for multiple monitoring. A “copy-paste” function allows the
user to copy parameter settings in
the LCP and there is also a full parameter list, Quick Menu, IP 65, NEMA 12 and application setup. A mounting kit and three metres of cable is
included. Essentially, everything you can do on the 500 is possible via the Control Panel, which operates as a full function HMI interface. In order to fulfill its laudable mission to serve the entire world, there is also a multiple language selection, including everything from Chinese to Russian and Chinese, across the four lines of the graphic display.
Danfoss Performance
In terms of power, the MCD 500 operates at 21 – 1600 A, 7.5 – 850 kW (1.2 MW inside Delta Connection) Versions for 200 – 690 VAC.
Using Adaptive Acceleration Control (AAC), for each start and stop, the soft starter compares the process to the chosen profile fitting, and then adapts accordingly. This means it will automatically employ the most appropriating starting and stopping profile for the chosen application.
Danfoss Accessories
As with all VLT equipment there area broad variety of options, including PC software (WinMaster, WinStart), the VLT® LCP 501 Control Panel detailed above, and modules for serial communication (DeviceNet, Profibus, Modbus RTU and USB).
